Welcome to Save Our Bay

Port Phillip Bay, Victoria's most beautiful and precious asset will be lost forever if The Port of Melbourne Corporation is allowed to dredge our Bay to cater for some of the worlds super sized container ships.
The dredging will turn the Bay's clean and clear water into a murky, toxic sludge.
It will cause irreversible damage to a marine environment that boasts more biodiversity than The Great Barrier Reef and over five hundred species of fish, ninety percent of which aren't found anywhere else on the planet.

The dredging will carve out the ocean floor at our Bay's entrance, The Heads, right alongside Marine National Parks designed to protect and preserve its beauty for future generations.
It will alter the amount of water that flows in and out with each tide, resulting in a rise in sea level.

The dredging will stir up millions of tonnes of toxic silt from the Yarra River bed and dump it elsewhere in the Bay, contaminating another area.

The dredging will make the water murky and noisy, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week for our Bay dolphins. The loss of a few breeding females that cant locate enough food threatens this subspecies of bottlenose dolphin, unique to Port Phillip Bay with extinction.
